About Lara

I became a midwife because I believe deeply in the power of compassionate, knowledgeable care during one of life’s most transformative experiences.

For over fourteen years, I have worked as a midwife supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth and the early weeks of parenthood. My career has included roles as a community midwife, working closely with families in their homes and communities, as well as specialist roles within the NHS supporting women and families with more complex needs.

Throughout my career, I have been drawn to the areas of care where families need the most understanding,  the quieter, more vulnerable moments that can shape how someone experiences becoming a parent.

My Own Journey into Motherhood

Alongside being a midwife, I am also a mother to three boys, and motherhood has profoundly shaped how I practice.

My first birth experience was traumatic. I remember clearly how it felt to navigate those early days without the support or guidance I needed. That experience stayed with me and deepened my understanding of how vulnerable the transition into motherhood can be.  It also strengthened my belief that women deserve time, compassion and clear guidance during pregnancy and the fourth trimester, not just clinical care, but support that truly sees them as individuals.

Becoming a mother myself changed the way I understand the emotional landscape of early parenthood. It reinforced something I had already begun to see through my work as a midwife: that the transition into motherhood is about far more than simply having a baby.   It is a time of identity change, emotional adjustment, recovery and learning.

My Approach

Over the years I have developed an approach that blends clinical expertise with calm, compassionate care.

I believe families benefit most when they feel:

    •    listened to without judgement

    •    informed about their options

    •    supported to make decisions that feel right for them

    •    guided with both knowledge and kindness

Much of my work focuses on helping parents feel less overwhelmed and more confident as they navigate pregnancy, birth recovery and early parenthood.

I have a particular interest in the fourth trimester, newborn emotional development and the transition into parenthood — helping families understand their babies, build connection and feel calmer in those early months.

Continual Learning

Midwifery is a profession that never stands still, and I have always been passionate about continuing to learn and deepen my understanding.

Throughout my career I have continually invested in further education, specialist training and professional development to ensure the care and guidance I offer families is thoughtful, informed and evidence based.  Learning, reflecting and evolving are an important part of who I am as a midwife.

What Matters Most

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief:

Every family deserves to feel supported, respected and understood as they navigate pregnancy, birth and the transition into parenthood.

Whether through my work with families, organisations or education, my aim is always the same — to create spaces where people feel safe to ask questions, explore their choices and feel genuinely cared for.
